David Ouimette is the Executive Director of First Year Programs and Learning Communities at the University of Connecticut. His primary responsibility is building a comprehensive support system for the transition of first year students integrating Learning Communities, FYE coursework, academic support and enrichment activities. David continuously strives to create new and exciting opportunities for students. He premiered First Year Experience courses 20 years ago and launched UConn Connects, a program that helps students succeed academically, 25 years ago. He truly is a visionary that is passionate about students and their success.

Prior to his experiences at the University of Connecticut, David worked five years at the University of Southern California as the Director of the Office for Student Conduct and 8 years in the Dean of Students Office at UConn. David taught high school history for a number of years prior to beginning his career in Higher Education. David holds a Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Vermont, and a History degree from Gettysburg College. In 2014, he was selected to receive the Outstanding First Year Student Advocate award by the National Resource Center for the First Year Experience and Students in Transition – a very prestigious award only presented to a select few across the nation.
