Whitney Losapio

Whitney Losapio currently serves as an Academic Advisor for the University of Connecticut (UConn) School of Engineering. She began at UConn in this role in March 2014. In addition to advising, Whitney teaches a first-year seminar course for the Engineering House Living Learning Community and manages the Engineering Tutoring Center. Prior to coming to the University of Connecticut, Whitney worked as a College Access Advisor at On Point for College, Inc. in Syracuse, New York. As an Access Advisor, Whitney worked with inner city youth to pursue their college goals despite financial and academic barriers. She advised students on a wide variety of topics including college enrollment, financial aid, academic planning, career development, and residential living. Whitney also has prior experience in student conduct, international admissions, and academic advising and support.

A Connecticut native and true UConn Husky, Whitney received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut, graduating summa cum laude as an Honors Scholar. Following her time at UConn, she earned her Master’s in Higher Education from Syracuse University. Whitney actively attends National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) events and has presented on the following topics at various NACADA conferences: “Beyond Access: Making Higher Education Achievable for First Generation Students;” “EARN IT, OWN IT: Promoting Self-Advocacy in First Year Students from Orientation to Advising;” “Teach me! Training Topics for Student Staff in Peer Tutoring Centers;” and “Advisors Value Self- and Career-Exploration: Teaching a First-Year Seminar Course for your Advisees.” A motivated, life-long learner, Whitney truly loves working with college students and is passionate about student access and success.
